Write From Within

Drag pen across paper,

Decisively mark a first step,

Onto an empty road.

Breathe in a moment,

Feel what is,

And do what comes naturally.

As the world sighs beyond that open window.

As line of flame dancing up a dry twig’s back.

As moths flutter above your flickering light of inspiration.

Even when a multitude of others do not understand the craving within.

Twist the incessant thoughts that spill like superheated metal spraying across your attention.

As emotion drives you to the very edge of madness and desperation to know how these stories will end.

Starting with the view that sits before you each day and every day that continues to dawn.

Breathe in successive moments,

Honor this overwhelming cacophony,

Embrace the natural.

Embark upon the less known road,

Open your mind to what is,

Meet pencil to paper.

  1. Michael, this is a very well written poem, full to the brim of stimulating imagery and the struggle that we face as writers to find that creative spark to be inspired. Your words and message throughout are determined and very inspiring indeed, I can totally relate them on a personal level! I notice that you have written other impressive motivational poems this month in April, including two other favourites of mine ‘A Bit of Earth’ and ‘Inspiration’ over at the Go Dog Go Cafe.

I have an inspirational poetry journal called “Auroras & Blossoms Poetry Journal” that has just published its third issue and we are running a special NaPoWriMo Anthology issue for inspirational poems written in NaPoWriMo 2020. If you are interested in submitting any of the wonderful poems of yours that I just mentioned above (including Write From Within) into our NaPoWriMo Anthology for publication then you can find more details below. We are also open to regular submissions all year round as well for inspirational poetry submissions.

Hope you take the time to check us out, I’m sure our readers would love to get a chance to enjoy reading your poetry 🙂

    1. I would be honored to! I will submit those poems as soon as I can! Thank you so much for your attention and invitation. I’m grateful that you enjoyed these poems! I will check out your website and will send in my submissions soon. Should I be putting anything specific in the submission title? I’m probably not making any sense right now, sorry.

      1. Hey there Michael, that is wonderful news 🙂 You don’t need to put anything specific in the submission title, in our Submission Form that is specifically for the NaPoWriMo 2020 anthology there will be an opportunity to mention where you found out Auroras & Blossoms/the Anthology and you can mention our conversation there. Sincerely look forward to receiving your submission soon 🙂
