Come find me where I’ve dated to tread,
Beyond the end of each winding road.
I have stepped of each carefully laid step,
And now venture onto a dirt path.
Life contain now stretches on,
Begging me to explore.
I can no long walk here,
Shackled to a story that is no longer my own.
I wish to climb to where the dragons are,
Not to slay or vanquish but to thrive in with the lives of others.
Now watch me as I take up my stick and walk,
Into the unknown and beautiful world.
Authors note: An ode to the end of graduate school. How I’ll never miss thee.
