Ode to Lavender

Upon this cool earth do I find myself,

Eyes following the waving lavender.

Sweet is the air around my head,

My ears buzzing with the gentle hum of honey bees.

Purple and blue tip stalks so green do I see,

I almost cry at the vivid hues.

But then the smell comes drifting down,

Stroking my eye lids closed.

I breathe in the heady scent of peace,

As each nerve within my body calms.

Now drink do I from a sleeping draft,

But only with my nose and dreaming mind.
