Saturday Book Review- Esperanza Rising

Today’s Saturday book review title is Esperanza Rising by Pam Muñoz Ryan. This young adult read published in 2000 follows the heart breaking story of Esperanza, a young daughter of wealthy plantation owners in Mexico, finds herself in a harsh and unforgiving world when her family loses their home and crops in a fire. With little more than her beleaguered family and a promise of a new life in a strange land, Esperanza must fight and give everything to keep her family together.

Esperanza Rising is a fantastic and moving story, filled with triumph and failure, sorrow, and most of all, hope. It definitely remains a favorite of my bookshelf at home.

Other books by Pam Muñoz Ryan:

Paint the Wind

When Marian Sang
