Are you a cat or a dog person?

I grew up with Shetland Sheep dogs and am deathly allergic to cats. So I’m definitely a dog person.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Are you doing that now?

I wanted to be a paleontologist as a child, and I’m not now. But I am pursuing my dreams of writing, and some of those stories does include dinosaurs so . . . in a round-a-bout sort of way yes I am.

Always chocolate.

I love blogging about fiction writing. (Because it includes all of my stories.)

Why did you start your blog?

Hands On The Wall

My hand upon the wall feels cool, as brick pulls rough against my skin.

I lay upon a slab of cement, riddled with cracks and breaking rocks.

Above me a daddy long leg creeps up the wall.

Tracing a finger between each space I start a familiar race.

I’m running up an impossible labyrinth, with no chance of escape.

Up and over and up and over, waiting to fall down.

It all comes to a grinding halt, nearly out of my reach.

For I have snagged a finger tip, on white course brick.

My Secret Space of Green

Dark it is, with the smell of dirt and dried leaves.

I can feel my heart racing beneath my ribs.

Someone beyond the veil of greenery is counting down from ten.

For a moment I’m paralyzed with the thought of capture.

Will they find me? I  know they will!

But I don’t want to be it! Have they stopped counting? Yes!

Quick stop breathing, they’ll hear you here.

My rump rests fitfully on a smooth rock, a centipede crawls by.

There’s whispering in the grass out side,

I realize I have to pee.

Water Among The Grass

Fingers dig into rich black soil, filling my body with wonder.

A long crooked bar of metal lays discarded to the side, rusting with use and time.

I twist at the iron spigots as water gurgles between my toes, all I can do is giggle.

July on the Ink Owl

New month, new challenge, and new life decisions to be made! I’m excited to announce I’ll be pursuing efforts to further my educational and career dreams. That being said I will now have to divide my time further between family, writing, blogging and school work.  Thus for the time being I’ll be somewhat of a recluse. Not to worry, I have exciting things still in store for all of you followers. For July on The Ink Owl I’ll be featuring 31 poems based on childhood memories of Summer.

I was taking care of my parents home and yard while they’re away having adventures out of country and the thought hit me to write down these poems. Each one features a picture taken in my childhood stomping grounds. So please join me as I take you all down memory lane. Happy reading!
